Obsidian lists the Windows save directory under %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Grounded2. Close the game and platform client, copy the entire Grounded2 folder elsewhere, and verify the copy before changing any original file.

Do this first

Save-safe order

  1. Exit the game and wait for sync to finish.
  2. Open %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Grounded2.
  3. Copy—not move—the whole folder into a dated backup directory.
  4. Confirm the copy contains files and has a plausible size.
  5. Never test a restore on the only copy.

What to copy

Copy the whole Grounded2 directory so related metadata stays together. Name the copy with date, time, store, and world owner.

  • Keep it outside the active Saved Games path
  • Do not edit the only backup
  • Record the displayed game build
  • Make a second copy before any restore test

Cloud sync is not version history

A cloud service can synchronize an unwanted new state. It may help, but it is not a guaranteed archive. This guide stops before file replacement because the safe restore method depends on store, sync state, and ownership.
